Great Bealings lies in an Area of Special Landscape, in unspoilt, rolling countryside, with the River Lark running through ancient watermeadows, below the 1,000 year old church of St Mary’s. It is only a couple of miles from the centre of Woodbridgeand its Market Hill (left), and within easy reach of the county town of Ipswich.
Trains from London Liverpool Street stop at both Ipswich and Woodbridge, taking just over the hour to reach Ipswich.
The golf course adjoining Seckford Hall Hotel (right) is just up the road, with the heathland and challenging Woodbridge and Ipswich Golf Courses about 15 minutes drive away.
We have a pay and play tennis court and playground shared with Little Bealings,within walking distance. We recommend the Anchor in Woodbridge, the award winning Grundisburgh Dog and Milsoms Bistro at Kesgrave Hall for great places to eat locally, and there are plenty of more traditional Pubs to try, such as the Greyhound in Pettistree, and the Turks Head at Hasketon.
Woodbridge with its Tide Mill and marina on the Deben, (left), is a renowned rowing, canoeing & sailing centre, connecting down river to Waldringfield, Ramsholt and Felixstowe.
The National Trust’s Sutton Hoo is close by: their amazing reconstruction of King Raedwald’s ship and treasures an absolute must see.
